SMILEY® Chardonnay is crafted to be the epitome of a French Chardonnay – elegant, refined and lightly floral, made for sharing with good friends, good food and good times. Produced in partnership with Château de l’Orangerie (Famille Icard) in the Bordeaux region, SMILEY Wines source Chardonnay grapes from selected terroirs in Gascony and Southwest France, where sandy soils and a mild climate give white varietals a distinctive aromatic lift.

In the glass, SMILEY® Chardonnay shows a brilliant straw-yellow colour with bright reflections. The nose is aromatic and delicate, expressing exotic fruits (passion fruit, mango) and acacia blossoms, sometimes with hints of citrus and light stone fruit, depending on vintage. On the palate, it is smooth, fine and voluptuous with a rounded texture, lifted by fresh, lively acidity that keeps the wine balanced rather than heavy. The overall impression is of good aromatic intensity, freshness and charm, making it an accessible, modern expression of French Chardonnay.

Winemaking is focused on preserving fruit purity. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, carefully sorted, de-stemmed, cooled before pressing and gently pressed to keep only the best free-run juice. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to maintain freshness, followed by early bottling after light fining to lock in the wine’s fruity and floral character. Alcohol typically sits around 11.5–12.5% ABV, making it a versatile, easy-drinking white for many occasions.

For food pairing, SMILEY® Chardonnay is ideal as a cosy apéritif, and works particularly well with sushi, grilled vegetables, fish, white meats, soft cheeses and light pasta dishes. It’s positioned as a friendly, accessible French white wine for everyday enjoyment in international markets, including Malaysia, Singapore and wider Asia, where approachable, fruit-forward French wines are increasingly popular.
