Released in 2023 as part of Diageo’s annual Special Releases series, this 12-year-old Lagavulin has been finished in Don Julio anejo Tequila casks, adding layers of herbaceous fruit to the classic smoky character. Aromas of medicinal smoke, green oak, driftwood bonfires, barbecued pork and dark fruit fill the nose, complemented on the palate by notes of tart citrus, juicy plums, a sprinkle of sea salt and herbal smoke. The finish brings lingering plumes of peat smoke, peppery oak and a salty tang.
