Benrinnes 21 Years Old Diageo Special Releases 1992 is a limited-edition single malt from the Speyside distillery Benrinnes. Released in 2014 as part of Diageo’s Special Releases, the whisky has a classic Benrinnes profile of sherried meatiness. It was distilled in 1992 and aged for 21 years in European oak sherry casks, before being bottled at a cask strength of 56.9%. Benrinnes 21 Years Old Diageo Special Releases 1992 is a big, bold and meaty dram. On the nose you’ll find aromas of chocolate, peanuts, raisins, dark treacle toffee, buttery pastry, nutmeg, cinnamon, toasted oak and polished leather. The palate is powerful with a sweet and spicy character. It starts out dense and savoury with flavours of dried fruits, dark chocolate, allspice and hazelnuts, then develops into a toffee sweetness with a hint of burnt pastry. The finish is long and softly drying, with lingering spices, dried orange peel, menthol, almonds and a hint of smoke.
