Zacapa is made from only the sweetest first crush virgin sugar cane honey, rather than molasses, and is aged in a series of casks that previously held American Whiskies, Oloroso Sherry, Pedro Ximenez wines and cognac in a unique process called the Sistema Solera.
The secret of Zacapa is the slow ageing process that takes place at high altitude in the cool air of the Guatemala highlands. This helps slow the ageing process, which creates the final balance between the aromas and flavours extracted during the long process.
